NO! NO! NO! - Preconstruction Meeting

So on Friday morning we finally had our pre-construction with Kevin our SR and Aaron our PM. We met Aaron briefly back in December and it was the first time we've had an extended conversation. We had a "few" request and we pretty much heard a lot of no's to making any changes.

First Impression:

We are definitely looking forward to working Aaron during this process. He definitely comes across as experienced, he's been building homes for over 15 years. Aaron was very thorough going over all of our selections and confirming the location of various recessed lights and outlets we've added to the house. He even spotted an error in where we located a dedicated circuit in a garage closet.
He was also very positive about being able to complete the home by mid August.

We asked about bringing in an inspector pre drywall and after. He was very open to the idea however stressed the numerous amounts of inspections that the home will go through during the building process. We liked the idea that NVHomes is taking a lot of precautions. Even though we haven't seen too many complaints about NVHomes specifically online, I like the idea of extra eyes that represent my interest. I understand human error and mistakes will happen but we also want to send a message that were watching and not to slack on this house. Im a stickler for all the fine details and I expect the craftsmanship to be on point.

Tips:

  • Definitely come prepared with all your questions because it helps make an efficient meeting.
  • If possible having your meeting inside your model, because it makes it easier to point specific issues
  • Try to make any request as early as possible, at this point of the process they are very resistant to making any changes

  2. Sounds like you have a great PM! Good idea to have the house independently inspected. We really liked having the predrywall inspection.
