Construction Update : Tile and Lights Installed

Not a ton of progress this past weekend but we have lighting fixtures and tiling in the Master Bath is complete. Most of the lighting fixtures you see here will either be re-homed or placed on craigslist. Im really big on lighting so we just went with the included fixtures knowing that they would be replaced eventually. I've been wanting a Nest thermostat for a long time, so we'll probably replace the thermostat below also.

No major update yet on the Master Bath Shower fiasco. We've been in communication with our PM and right now Stonemark is saying that is indeed the same tile we selected. They are saying it is either the grout affecting the color or the variation in the stone. The grout is grey so if it were haze then the tile should have appeared more grey. Im not buying either excuse right now, so hopefully they figure something out.

    1. Have you seen their Protect smoke detectors? Highly recommend if you ever decide to upgrade.

    2. Yes, we knew the newer version would be released so we waited it out. We will be installing them.

  2. That's ludicrous that Stonemark is trying to claim that's the same tile -- they look WAY different.

    1. It's clearly different. Our PM wants us to check it out again. Says it may look different after the grout has dried. So we'll see...

  3. Your shower looks beautiful! I love your mosaic and the window. I hope your tile floor issue gets resolved, because then the shower will be perfect.

  5. We have a post coming soon with updates, we've been so overwhelmed that I haven't had time to update. As far as the tile on the ceiling, it should be the full 12x24 tile. The finishing edges are 2x12 though. Hope it works out!

  6. Even though I'm also building the same model, the interior design company for my division (HD Supply) will not put 12x24 tile on the ceiling for safety reasons. They also wouldn't allow the 50% running bond on the wall tiles and I had to go with the 1/3 stagger. You're lucky your company was more lenient! Looking forward to your new post.

    1. That's BS! You can absolutely install 12x24 tile on the ceiling. I would fight that decision, it a common application as long as they use the proper bonding material. Wouldn't allow? This is your house get the tile the way you want it, don't let these people push you around. It's your money wish means you get to do the pushing.
