Construction Update - We have a slab!

Chris and I took close friends and family out to the site today. We were trying to entice them to purchase in Beech tree. We toured our model and the Lafayette Model being built by Ryan Homes. The folks at Ryan were pretty awesome and gave us a great tour. Its not as large as the Andrew Carnegie but it was a really nice layout. Its an impressive alternative at a more affordable price point.

We were also happy to see that the construction crew has finally poured the concrete slab. While we were snapping photos we met one of our future neighbors who was checking out her site as well. Everyone we've met so far have been great, so it feels good to be around nice people.

  1. I'm sure they didn't mind at all you bringing family and friends by! That means more opportunity for sales. If any of them actually purchase, maybe they'll discount you or throw in a free upgrade for you!?! Probably not likely, but i'm sure you all had fun. :)

    1. Lol, I'm sure they don't mind. Ryan/Nvhomes actually does have an incentive program. I want to say it's like 5k for the referral. Totally not our angle, we just want our friends near by.

  3. Wow your house looks great! Like your blog! Btw, I’m also in the middle of constructing my first home. Have you ever encounter crack in the concrete slab? Wonder if anyone have any experience dealing with this unwanted fact…

    1. Hi Jasmine, So sorry for the late response and congrats on the new house. We have encountered cracks on the concrete slab. They are visible in the garage. We were initially worried but everyone we talked to said that is completely normal. We were also told that the cracks were only an issue if greater than 1/4 inch wide.

    2. Hi Owen! Thanks very much for the reply. Yeah I have a couple of crack which is thin but can extended for a few feet. Cause me to worry a lot. I did not see any in the garage yet but located them in the recreation room. :( I will measure the width as you suggested. Thank you again. Btw, I saw your newest update. The marbles look great! Congrats!
